West African Style Grilled Beef (Suya)

Ingredients

2 Pounds Of Beef (Preferably A Tender Cut Like Sirloin Or Flank Steak)

1/4 Cup Groundnut (Peanut) Oil Or Any Neutral Cooking Oil

1/4 Cup Ground Roasted Peanuts 2 Tablespoons Cayenne Pepper (Adjust According To Your Taste)

1 Tablespoon Garlic Powder

1 Tablespoon Onion Powder

2 Tablespoons Paprika

1 Teaspoon Salt (Adjust To Taste)

1 Tablespoon Ginger Powder

1 Tablespoon Dried Thyme

1 Teaspoon Ground Cumin

Steel Skewers (Pre-soaked In Water For At Least 30 Minutes)

Step: 1

Cut The Beef Into Thin Strips, About 1/4 To 1/2 Inch Thick And 2-3 Inches Long. Place Them In A Large Bowl.

Step: 2

In A Separate Bowl, Combine The Groundnut Oil With The Ground Roasted Peanuts, Paprika, Cayenne Pepper, Ginger Powder, Garlic Powder, Onion Powder, Dried Thyme, Ground Cumin, And Salt. Mix Well To Form A Thick Paste.

Step: 3

Pour The Spice Paste Over The Beef Strips And Mix Thoroughly, Ensuring Each Piece Is Coated With The Marinade. You Can Use Your Hands To Massage The Marinade Into The Meat For Better Flavor Penetration. Let The Beef Marinate For At Least 1 Hour Or Overnight In The Refrigerator For Maximum Flavor.

Step: 4

Preheat Your Grill To Medium-high Heat.

Step: 5

Thread The Marinated Beef Strips Onto The Soaked Bamboo Skewers, Leaving A Little Space Between Each Piece.

Step: 6

Place The Skewers On The Preheated Grill And Cook For About 8-10 Minutes, Turning Occasionally, Until The Beef Is Nicely Charred And Cooked To Your Desired Doneness. Keep An Eye On Them To Prevent Burning.

Step: 7

Once Cooked, Remove The Skewers From The Grill And Let Them Rest For A Few Minutes.

Step: 8

Serve The Suya Skewers Hot, Garnished With Extra Ground Roasted Peanuts And Sliced Onions If Desired. Suya Is Traditionally Eaten With Sliced Tomatoes, Onions, And Cabbage Or Served With A Side Of Spicy Peanut Sauce.

Enjoy Your Delicious West African Style Grilled Beef (Suya)!
