Italian Sausage Pasta

Ingredients

8 Ounces (225g) Italian Sausage (Mild Or Hot), Casings Removed

8 Ounces (225g) Pasta (Such As Penne Or Rigatoni)

1 Tablespoon Olive Oil

1 Small Onion, Finely Chopped

2 Cloves Garlic, Minced

Salt To Taste

Pepper To Taste

1 Can (14 Ounces/400g) Diced Tomatoes

 

1/2 Teaspoon Dried Basil

1/2 Teaspoon Dried Oregano

1/4 Teaspoon Red Pepper Flakes (Adjust According To Your Spice Preference) Freshly Grated Parmesan Cheese, For Garnish
Fresh Basil Leaves, For Garnish (Optional)

 

Step: 1

Cook The Pasta According To The Package Instructions Until Al Dente. Drain And Set Aside.

Step: 2

In A Large Skillet Or Frying Pan, Heat The Olive Oil Over Medium Heat. Add The Onion And Garlic, And Sauté Until They Become Translucent And Fragrant, About 2-3 Minutes.

Step: 3

Add The Diced Tomatoes and Cook until soft.

 

Step: 4

Add The The Dried Basil, Dried Oregano, And Red Pepper Flakes. Stir Well To Combine.

Step: 5

Add The Italian Sausage To The Pan And Break It Up Into Smaller Pieces Using A Wooden Spoon. Cook Until The Sausage Is Browned And Cooked Through, Stirring Occasionally, For About 5-7 Minutes.

Step: 6

Reduce The Heat To Low And Let The Sauce Simmer For About 10 Minutes, Allowing The Flavors To Meld Together. Season With Salt And Pepper To Taste.

Step: 7

Add The Cooked Pasta To The Sauce And Toss To Coat Evenly. Cook For An Additional 2-3 Minutes, Stirring Occasionally, To Heat The Pasta Through.
